MOT Test Fees: Class 4 & Class 7
The cost of an MOT test in the UK is regulated by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), which sets a maximum fee that test centres can legally charge.

Please note that MOT test fees are exempt from VAT.

Understanding the Vehicle Classes

Class 4 MOT
This is the most common MOT class, covering the majority of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles on UK roads.
  • Vehicles included: Most cars, motor caravans, 3-wheeled vehicles over 450kg unladen weight, and goods vehicles up to 3,000kg Design Gross Weight (DGW).
Class 7 MOT
This class is for larger commercial vans and goods vehicles that are too heavy for a Class 4 test.
  • Vehicles included: Larger vans, some pickups, and goods vehicles with a Design Gross Weight (DGW) of between 3,001kg and 3,500kg.
  • The required testing equipment for Class 7 MOTs is larger and different from Class 4, which is why the maximum fee is slightly higher.
Failed MOTs and Retests
If your vehicle fails its MOT, we are required to issue a VT30 document detailing the faults. We offer a retest within a specific timeframe (usually 10 working days) if the repairs are carried out at our centre or if the vehicle is returned for a partial retest within the DVSA guidelines.
  • Retest Fee £20
