The test itself usually takes between 45 minutes and an hour. You can usually wait in our designated customer area while it is carried out.

An MOT is a legal safety inspection to check a vehicle meets minimum roadworthiness standards. A service is routine maintenance to keep the car running optimally (e.g., oil changes, filter replacements) and is recommended but not legally mandatory.

THE MOT IS NOT A SERVICE

If your vehicle has been listed as having ‘dangerous’ or ‘major’ problems in your MOT test results, it will have failed its MOT. And as a result of that, you might not be allowed to drive the vehicle again until you fix the problems.

Along with a test failure, you might also get a list of ‘minor’ or ‘advisory’ problems, which you’re advised to monitor or fix in the future.

When your vehicle fails the MOT, you’ll be given the ‘refusal of an MOT test certificate’ (paper copy) from us – and this will be recorded on the MOT database.

You can get an MOT up to one month (minus a day) before the current certificate runs out and keep the same renewal date. You are able to book your MOT online with us.

Yes, if you disagree with the result, you must speak to the test centre manager first. If the issue is unresolved, you can appeal to the DVSA within 14 working days. You should not have any repairs made until the appeal process is complete.
